I think I freaked Matthew and Ron out when the newscast announced in March that George Clooney and “his closest friends” were going to be in town the next day. Of course, I morphed into a 16-year-old babbling chick out of my mind. When Ron woke up on March 26, I was showered, dressed and ready to meet the man. He was caught a little off-guard and Matthew was confused – he couldn’t understand why people get crazy and stand in line to meet a guy.
Despite the fact that I printed the directions, Ron still managed to try to drive to the wrong place!
We only had to wait about 30-45 minutes for him to show up at the train station, and ”his closest friends” was Renee Zellwegger, which is his co-start in the movie. She was so nice and her voice is so soft and sweet.
There was actually a good turn-out with the crowd, which kind of surprised me. It was Spring Break around here so I was hoping everyone was gone! Ron had Matthew on his shoulders and took photos while I leaned in to get autographs. The PR people with them said no photos with the stars because there just wasn’t enough time to stop for all of us and do that.
George Clooney touched Matthew’s head and chatted with him for a few seconds, admiring his eyes (who doesn’t?). Matthew looked like he was done — the excitement wasn’t catching on for him and then when George walked up to us, Matthew got a little shy and buried his face. He did look up though and smile.

I’m a dork though – I announced that we were never going to wash Matthew’s hair again because George touched it; then I called Tiff back home (who, by the way, is the only reason I even look at George Clooney) and gave her the details.
